Not sure. I always have the vegetarian options.
Yes, all veggie dishes are vegan.
Always amazing. Service and food are on point. One of Windsors best hidden gems.
Love this place, we recently went to try this place from Michigan and it was will worth it. Delicious food keep it up guys
very good ! first time experience eating Ethiopian food, this is the meat combo , 3 different dishes all equally good. I would recommend ,look foward to trying more
I first ate at Marathon Ethiopian Restaurant in my late teens for a end of year celebration. At first glance the large platters of assorted meat and vegetables took me by surprise and lets face it...there were no forks. 10 years later I am still eating here at least twice a month. The food never disappoints and it is isn't something I can make at home...I've tried. The flavours are incomparable to other cuisines. The atmosphere is authentic and relaxing. The staff is friendly. If you are looking to get out of your comfort zone try this place out and get a sharing platter. They have vegan and meat options. Always a great time.
Amazing food!!! Also super close to CraftHeads. We’ve gotten takeout and ate at CraftHeads twice now. The food is unbeatable and the option to have with craft beer even better.
Been here twice and tried different things each time. The prices are so fair, and the portion is filling. The flavors you will experience will excite your taste buds, and delight your other senses. I have always wondered what kind of food they eat in Ethiopia. The answer, incredibly healthy and simple foods with various spices. I consider myself a bit of an aficionado, but was I ever surprised by the abundance of flavors that I had never before experienced.Great place if you have never been, what are you waiting for?
It's actually quite sad that Windsor being the 4th diverse city in Canada has only one Ethiopian restaurant. Regardless, I usually order the beef and chicken tips with the injera bread. I love that you can eat this food with your hands where you don't use utensils. This food is spicy and I love that as well (part of my reason for going there). I find their service friendly but the price is a little $$ including the tip. I don't always eat here for that reason but when I do, I savor every bite.
First time trying Ethiopian food and it was delicious!
Great service and the food is excellent. Generous portions. The restaurant is warm and cozy but with plenty of space. We had the veggie combo for four and everything was delicious. This place could easily be overlooked but it's definitely worth a visit. We will be coming back.
Great food, great staff, great atmosphere! This is my favorite restaurant to go to for a date night with my wife ... she loves it too! Make sure to ask for the coffee ceremony after dinner!
Best Kitfo dulet, great service
Absolutely phenomenal. Kind gentleman who served us, food was 10/10, atmosphere and decor was very relaxed with dim lighting, incense burning, and what I can only assume were some cultural statues and antique sets.Would highly recommend to anyone.
First of all, if you're wondering what to eat, stop your search, and try this place. Just do it. Seriously. Stop now. Just make this your choice. I've had a lot of Ethiopian food, and even though it's the only Ethiopian food in Windsor, the quality is ridiculously high, and authentic (I'd say perfect.. as in the best I've had). Seriously. It's delicious. So much flavour .
I love coming here! The food is always phenomenal and a welcomed break from the usual pub fare. Fantastic flavors. Prices are great, I'm always pleasantly surprised by the bill. Note of warning, don't come here if you have a problem eating with your hands - this place expects you to eat without utensils, as per Ethiopian custom.
Truthfully, this was my first Ethiopian food experience so forgive me if my opinion of the food is wrong. In general the place was quiet and a perfect work trip dinner place for me to wind down. Small operation so I think the waiter occasionally had to go back into kitchen to help. The Meat combo with injera was a nice and fun to eat with my hands. The meat sambusa was reasonably delicious for my. Prices were quite reasonable. Got a pen as a gift when I paid. Overall quite pleased with the place.
Amazing staff food and prices! We try to come here whenever we are in Windsor! Vegan and vegetarian options are outstanding.
The food is tasty. Spiced according to the culture and isn't overpowering. Most people go for the sample platters. The choice of platters are vegetarian and meat with a little if everything they offer. The serving size is larger than average so if this is your first time order conservatively. Apparently the coffee is strong and a whole experience itself. You eat with your hands here and they provide towelettes.
A wide variety of flavorful, savory, mildly spicy food graces the menu of this cozy restaurant. The gentleman who served us was very polite and helpful, and the vegetarian sampler I got was delicious. The meal is eaten in the traditional Ethiopian style, so don't expect silverware. Highly recommended.
Delicious food! We found this to be a very good dining experience. Don't be scared to get your hand (the right hand) dirty! Very flavourful food! We will be back!We got the meat platter and some lamb tips as well as an order of the yellow peas. Surprisingly filling!
The food is so amazing
Great tasting food with friendly staff and good environment .
Varieties on menu. Options of injera bread or rice for almost each dish. Reasonably priced. A bit spicy though, for those who are not into it! Spice level for some can be adjusted. Good priced drinks, with limited options though. Must visit, especially of you are looking to try other kinds of foods. Good ambience, great customer service.
Solid Ethiopian cuisine. Be prepared to use your hands to eat!
Excellent food. Great service.
Amazing food. The food is always consistent, warm and hearty. The atmosphere is quiet and warm. The staff are ALWAYS kind and polite.
Absolutely amazing! I’m thinking of driving from Toronto just to eat at this Resturant. Ill definitely be back.
Good food at reasonable prices. The food has always been when I've been here. The service is okay but be patient as there is usually one 1 person working in the front. An enjoyable dinner and good for groups of friends.
The best... A staple for my wife and I through the years. Simply flavorfull, Everytime.
My first time trying Ethiopian food and I'm glad I tried it here. The food was amazing. The spices used were memorable, but the taste was unforgettable. I had the #9 on the Meat Dishes on Injera menu, the "Doro Wat (spicy)". The Injera (resembles a Crepe and you can see it under the food and three of them to the right of the plate) soaked up all the spices very well and held up when using it to scoop it up. As for the "spicy" part, I didn't find it too hot, it just had a nice kick. The lemon-marinated chicken on the bone was tender and the hard boiled egg was a nice touch. Delicious. Altogether it was about $20 with tax and tip for the dish and a Coke. It was a great experience with friends, I'll go back again.
Great experience with the vegetable platter for 4 people. Service was slower than expected but the food was worth the wait.
This is only the 2nd review I've ever done, but after eating here last week, I had to tell everyone! Fresh and amazing! The service was great and the food was even better. Can't wait to go back!
Coffee ceremony is a must! Its like fifteen bucks and served out of a cracked ethiopian coffee jug. They roast the beans in front of you and then give you the whole pot to drink and light some incense. Drink many small sugary cups of it. Great end to a nice date. The food is delicious too. Reasonably priced.
Love going here for some interesting cuisine. Their dishes are, from what I can tell, authentic Ethiopian cuisine. I've yet to try the coffee ceremony, but am looking forward to one day trying it. The restaurant is quiet and calm during dinner time, and the staff are attentive and kind. Keep in mind you must eat with your hands, as they do not offer utensils. Read up on proper table etiquette if you're worried!
Great hidden gem in downtown Windsor! But be warned you eat with your hands.
Good service, excellent location, fast service but unreasonable business operation hours because the place opens only in the afternoon around 5PM. Food is overpriced and not food taste is no consistent and not as good as many Ethiopian restaurants.
The #1 thing on my very short list of "Things I Miss About Windsor". Amazing food and service. Abdo, we miss Marathon!
A hidden gem of Windsor. I lived in DC for years, which is famous for it's Ethiopian food. World Marathon Ethiopian can go toe to toe with any of them. We will definitely be coming back!
Such great flavours, and a unique experience. Just the smell and sounds of it here are special
Affordable and tasty!
Delicious every time. Never disappoints.
I loved that. They bring you wet, warm towels prior to bringing your food to wipe your hands (even though there is a bathroom). The food takes a while to arrive because it is made to order but it is totally worth it. We got a veggie taster type plate that had 6 different vegetable bases foods in one big plate. The food was delicious and flavorful and and it was a fun experience. I would definitely return.
Absolutely love this place. Such a great food experience in Windsor.... If you're a foodie you must go!!
Incredible food, i love that it is family run. Marathon brings an incredible vibe to Windsor. I would love to see them open for lunch. Great vegan and vegetarian options.
Had a great meal here for dinner. Ordered 1 veg combo and 1 meat combo and shared it amongst 2 people - it was delicious and filling. Service was great, and food arrived quickly. Reasonably priced too, ended up being about 35 bucks for 2 people. I like that they give you wet hand towels before and after your meal - been to several Ethiopian restaurants before and have never had that, it was a nice touch :)
SO AMAZING!! Staff is very friendly, food is wonderful and the anount you get for your price is awesome!
Have been here probably about 6 times now. Every time has been amazing. Service always is great, food is always great. Will definitely be back.
My favourite restaurant in Windsor!! Family owned, great food and prices! I always recommend.
I've always wanted to try this place but just never got around to it, Today I finally did, I got the Lamb with rice. It was great, It was a real home made meal which I love, The restaurant itself is very clean, Smelled amazing and had ethiopian art all over it! I recommend this place to everyone, May God bless you people!!
Very nice place, good food, good service and a painting on the wall, " Ethiopia 13 months of greenary" got me..
First time eating Ethiopian cuisine, similar in many ways to Indian, but different spices and bread change it up. Injero bread was tangy and sour, for any sourdough lovers i recommend stopping in if only to order food and get the bread that accompanies it. Friendly service.
